Golfing, Pinhead and Daniel Baldwin

It had been almost a month since I’d had a nice, quiet weekend to myself thanks to hitting social-mode with parties and weddings to attend. The furthest my plans stretched to was ‘sit in pyjamas and game’. In the end I had to put on decent clothing thanks to a fairly spur-of-the-moment visit from Stu for the day. I’d been eyeing up Boscombe’s mini-golf course since I moved here in May and now was the time to take it on. I slaughtered Stu thanks to my golfing prowess and resisted a quick teabagging on the 18th hole. I jest, he almost had me, he’s clearly a man that knows how to handle his club. We followed it up by eating Bournemouth’s entire supply of chicken and then watching a couple of DVDs. Having asked if he’s into horrors (he’s not) I then plump with Drag Me To Hell… followed by Monsters. Hopefully he’s not too traumatised.

Now I'm even more scared of the lady in the attic

Sunday kicked off by watching Hellraiser in bed. It used to be one of my favourite films but I hadn’t seen it in maybe twelve years. Last year I saw a bunch of the Cenobites at some nerdy convention thing and was surprised at how young they all still seemed considering the first of the franchise was filmed in 1987. I have a few more of the movies sat on my laptop so it might become a new Sunday morning tradition to work through them all. I got up and went for a shuffle around the high street. I was suffering slightly from the 3.30am bedtime which I’d filled by tweeting about gnome porn :/ I picked up some bits and pieces including Sandman vol.1 from Frog Bros comic book shop. It cost twice as much as the same book on Amazon but it’s not often I’d buy something from there so thought of it as a charity act (that sounds more patronising than I mean it to). One amusingly surreal highlight of the day was Daniel Baldwin’s twitter suddenly showing up in my feed. He somehow saw a tweet of mine and started joking about. Twitter is full of all kinds of imposters and frauds so I’m still not entirely convinced he isn’t a new breed of intelligent spambot ^_^ but I found it cool. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it but I’ve watched Vampires a few times and Baldwin starred as one of the main guys. My final tweet back ended with me hinting at beating him up with a dildo though so I don’t expect to hear from @DanielBaldwin again! The afternoon disappeared in a haze of reading and playing Halo, before I knew it the kids were being dropped back.

My weekend, while still being rather quiet and lazy, ended up much better than I thought it would be and considering the fairly crappy week I’d had prior to it, I’m thankful. Lesson learned – if you keep you’re expectations low, you can only be pleasantly surprised.
